Neeru Sharma is the Acting Lifestyle Editor at Closer magazine, the ultimate source for celeb news and showbiz gossip. When she’s not busy interviewing celebs and writing features, Neeru can be found watching soap operas and drinking tea.
While working with us on a recent campaign, Neeru took five minutes out (probably with a cup of tea) to answer the notorious SBPR questions. Here’s what Neeru had to say…
What are the 5 words that best describe you?
Chatty, empathetic, hardworking, warm-hearted, down to earth.
What magazine do you love reading and why?
Aside from Closer, I love YOU magazine for the breadth of content, timeless beauty advice and engaging real life stories.
What is your favourite book?
The Pursuit of Happiness by Douglas Kennedy.
Which song makes you dance?
24K Magic by Bruno Mars always gets me up on the dancefloor. I recently played it when I was asked to do an entrance dance at my friend’s wedding, and it got the crowd moving too!
What has been your best career moment?
Having my first ever big interview published inside Closer. It was a photoshoot with Denise Welch, and happened to be her first bikini shoot in six years. We talked about her emotional ups and downs and her ever-growing confidence. I grew up watching her on Loose Women and love how outspoken and honest she is, so to interview her for a big slot in the magazine was a real highlight for me.
What advice would you give your 20-year-old self?
That it’s okay to be me. In your early 20’s I think there’s an inclination to keep up with what other people are doing and how their lives are progressing, but now I’m a little older, I’ve realised everyone has different paths, it’s okay to say no to things, and most importantly life isn’t a race!
Where are you happiest?
After living in London for the last five years where life is so fast-paced, I’m happiest back home in Derby. Things are much quieter, calmer and greener!
Who would be your number one dinner guest and why?
Beverly Callard from Coronation Street. That answer may surprise you, but for me it’s easy. I’m a huge Coronation Street fan and if she’s anything like her on-screen character, she’d be a hoot!
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
To wake up and have my hair blow-dried, and ready to go! It would save me a lot of money each month.
If you had to ask us one question what would it be?
Your firm has worked on so many campaigns across national media – is there one that stands out, that you’re proud of?
SBPR: There are so many and they’re so different that it’s hard to choose, although the campaign that you’ve been a part of has definitely been a favourite.
This one was for our client, Bliss Sanctuary for Women, not only has it been super fun and rewarding for us but it’s made our client extremely happy!
We’ve spent the last three months working with celebrity agents to arrange for celeb trips to Bliss. These trips have seen the celebs post on their Instas and us secure interviews in national titles (including fab titles like Closer of course!). In just three months we’ve had the gorgeous Malin Anderson, Zara McDermott, Ellie Brown, Samira Mighty and Lydia Bright all stay at Bliss and thanks to their visits, Bliss’ Instagram following increased by over 20,000 in just three months!. We also secured 27 national features, reaching over 27 million people!
